Isla Vista
In
1990, the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors adopted the Isla Vista
Redevelopment Plan, establishing the Isla Vista Project Area. The
primary goals for the Isla Vista Project Area are to encourage affordable
housing development, improve infrastructure problems, preserve open space,
and remove blight. On August 21, 2007 the Santa Barbara County Board
of Supervisors adopted the Isla Vista Master Plan, which encourages mixed
use development in the downtown and multi-family residential development
in the central and northern areas, establishes incentive programs to encourage
community revitalization and infill, and implements a form-based code to
provide urban design standards supporting the efficient use of land.
