Draft Mission Canyon Community Plan Environmental Review 
The Board of Supervisors reviewed the proposed draft Mission Canyon Community Plan, the new draft Residential Design Guidelines and the proposed amendments to the Santa Barbara County Land Use & Development Code and authorized initiation of environmental review at a public hearing held on October 7, 2008.

Notice of Preparation and CEQA Initial Study
The County of Santa Barbara is the Lead Agency responsible for preparing an initial study of the potential environmental impacts related to the environmental review of the Draft Mission Canyon Community Plan pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines §§ 15367 and 15378(a)(1). The Office of Long Range Planning prepared the Initial Study to identify, and mitigate to the extent feasible, the potentially significant environmental impacts related to implementation of the Mission Canyon Community Plan project. The Initial Study is also a means of focusing the environmental analysis on the effects of the project determined to be significant or potentially significant and eliminating from further consideration resource areas determined to not be affected by the proposed project.
The Notice of Preparation of a Draft Environmental Impact Report was released on June 17, 2009. Notice of Preparation comments were due on 5:00 p.m. on Thursday July 16, 2009. The comment period is currently closed.
