Coastal Land Use Plan
Summary
Like
the Land Use Element, the Coastal Land Use Plan (CLUP) lays out the general
patterns of development throughout the coastal areas of the County. Its purpose
is to protect coastal resources while accommodating land use development
within the coastal zone. The other elements are applicable within the coastal
zone; however, when there is a conflict, the CLUP takes precedence.
Any amendments to the Coastal Land Use Plan must be approved by the California Coastal Commission and be consistent with California Coastal Act of 1976.
